Bilbys have a new swim squad starting next week and it's especially for less confident swimmers. The squad will initially run for 12 weeks and the aim of this squad is to provide a slower group for people who feel they need some extra coaching to help them transition into one of the regular Bilbys squad. The details of the squad are... Location: Civic Olympic Pool Day: Thursdays, beginning on 9 February 2012 Time: 7pm to 8.30pm Coach: Geoff Hare The cost of the squad is $3 for Bilbys members and $5 for non members. You will need to pay the pool entry fee as per usual. Please do not go to this swim squad if you are a confident swimmer. Instead, join one of the regular Bilbys swim squads.
Is anyone able to transport the tent to Huski?

Over the past few years we have been lucky enough to have someone volunteer to take the Bilbys tent up to Huskisson for the tri festival. It has been very much appreciated by Bilbys participating up there.
If you are able to assist with this please let me know - Jess Faulks (mailto:erin.barry@bilbys.org).
Otherwise we will just take the banner up and make that a central meeting point for people.

Reminder: joint responsibility for the tent

Just a reminder that the Bilbys tent is a club resource that is used at races for club members. Club members have a joint responsibility for the following:Helping to put up the tent (you generally need 4 people)Ensuring the tent is secure (eg the ropes are used to secure the tent - it will not be a good look if the tent is blown away and hits someone and I imagine there will be serious implications for the club if an incident did occur)Helping to pull the tent down at the end of the event. Please don't assume 'someone else' is going to do this. You generally need a few people to do this, and to help carry it to someone's car. Double checking that someone is taking it home. This is generally organised, but miscommunication can happen so it is always good to check.

2011 Farrell-Marshall Fun Run

41 Bilbys competed in the annual Farrell Marshall Fun Run on Sunday 23 October over a 4km or 8km course.

In hotter conditions than we’ve had in recent times, Sally Foster put in a sterling effort over 4kms to take out the first prize of $100 with a guess only 5 seconds outside her actual time. Adam Carlon took out second place and $60 with a guess only 9 seconds out over 8km and David Rudgley came third with a guess 12 seconds outside his run time over 4km to win $40.

Race Directors wanted

Fellow Bilbys
You may not have seen a request from Triathlon ACT for potential Race Operations Managers - see http://res.au.eventdirector.net/TACT/SITES/68/ZUSER/Race%20Operation%20Managers%20and%20Commentators.pdf (http://res.au.eventdirector.net/TACT/SITES/68/ZUSER/Race%20Operation%20Managers%20and%20Commentators.pdf)
TACT is seriously short of ROMs (Race Directors), having this year lost two of its stalwarts in Garry Muir and Garry Stevens, along with two others. While we have this season covered, our remaining ROMs of which I am one, are very keen to train some new triathletes in this endeavour.
In previous years, the task of a ROM has included plenty of heavy lifting. However, this year we are ensuring that ROMs are there to design and organise events, specifically not to do the physical stuff on site. As such we are hoping to obtain interest from those of you who enjoy event management, and/or want to give it a try in tri's!
I'm happy to answer any questions you have via this forum, or on my email brad.allen@dbcde.gov.au (mailto:brad.allen@dbcde.gov.au) or by telephone 6271 1309. Additionally there is a function for prospective new ROMs as per the TACT flyer linked above, on Wednesday 3rd August at 530pm at the TACT office in Deakin.
I'd be delighted to hear from you!
Brad Allen
