Hi All,
don't have time for ride email just yet. The usual rides are on.
See below about some cool bike stuff happenning tomorrow.
Cheers Gary
The grass is mowed, the course is set, the beer is on ice and the coffee machine is on the way.
It's all coming together for the Vikings, TMV cross race and garage sale.
Here's a few updated details:
Garage Sale
Gates will be open at 7:30 am for garage sale stall holders (official start
time is 8am).
It's free to set up a stall, but if the profits are high, think about making
a donation to Hartley Lifecare (receipts for tax claims available)
Gold coin entry donation to Hartley Lifecare for garage sale.
Parking for non-stall holders will be outside the velodrome gate, along
Kyeema st (note that the top end doesn't look like much of a street...more a
big dirt area. But turn left keep going and it will all make sense)
CROSS RACE
Popular demand seems to be for a single race for each category. Races Start at 12PM
Confirmed categories so far are:
Novice
Masters (40+, will split into age groups if numbers are high enough)
Singlespeed
Open
And we also hope to run (min 5 competitors)
Womens
Junions
Categories with more than 10 riders will be run as separate races.
The last race will be Open. (Estimated start time 3pm)
The course (see attached picture) will be mainly grassy, with both fast
(groomed) and rougher sections. Length is approx 1.5 km, with 300m on the
velodrome (on the flat duckboard section).
Singlespeeders will need to pick your gears wisely because there are three
very steep climbing sections on the outside of the velodrome, which will
probably require a dismount.
The course will be open for practice from 11am. The more people who come and
ride it for practice, the smoother and faster it'll be for the racing.
VENUE/Food etc
Directions to the Narrabunda veldrome can be found at the event website:
http://web.me.com/simonsky/Cyclocross/Home.html
There will be food available (a Hartley fundraising BBQ) from 9am and a coffee van on site from 8am.
Beer and softdrinks will be on sale (I know we have single speeders
participating, but please do not drink alcohol before racing, especially on
a hot day)
If there are any questions either email or call me on 0418 480 351
Looking forward to seeing you there.
Simon (on behalf of the Hartley Team Milton Valentine crew)
