Hello!

We all know that Bilbys is the best club in the world, but now we have
the chance to prove it!!!

This is a brand new event never seen in Australia and is based on teams
rather than individuals. Apparently it has met with success in Europe.

Below is info about the event - more can be found here:
http://www.t3events.com.au/actc-what.htm

It's a bit of a long email - a bit of a bain dump / summary of what's
available on the website. It will be a great weekend away (or day trip,
it's only up the road) and we'd LOVE to have have as many teams in each
division as we can!

I'm happy to take on organising and am keen to make this one
heck-of-a-fun weekend! I just need your participation! Novices and pros
are welcome - the more the merrier!

Any questions, please just drop me an email, and if I can't answer them
I'll shoot it off to the organisers.

Pls email me to register your interest and which division you think you
would like to race in. I look forward to hearing back from you!

Julia

THE LOW-DOWN
------------

T3 events are organising the '2006 Scody Australian Club Team's
Championships' to be held in Penrith on the 20/21st of May 2006 over the
sprint distance - 750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run. The Bilby's Committee
decided that we should try and enter as many teams as possible and I'm
in charge of organising things!

The basic run-down is that there are 3 divisions:
- Premier (elite) - male and female
- 2nd division - male and female
- 3rd division - male and female
There is also an over 45's category and a mixed category (need at least
2 females). You CAN race in both mixed (sunday) and 2nd or 3rd division
(sat) if you want.

People race in a 'team' - ideally of 4 people. ALL team members complete
ALL of the race but the catch is that 3 of the team members MUST finish
within 2 seconds of each other. You can have a team of 3, but it leaves
you vulnerable if one of the team doesn't finish.

The race is sprint distance - 750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run.

ENTERING THE EVENT
------------------
We'd love it if you could get together with your friends and organise
teams of 4 by yourself and let me know. You don't all have to be exactly
the same time, you just need to work out a way to cross the finish line
together. I.e. the fastest in the team walks the run until everyone
catches up, or you wait in transition for all team members and do each
leg together etc. The race is draft legal for your team. .

If you can't find people who are keen, we'd love it if you told us and
gave a rough guess as to how long the race will take - broken down by
each leg if possible.

It's a great chance for all athletes - young and old, regardless of
speed, to have some fun in the name of Bilbys!

The cost is $282.50 if we enter before 28/04, and there's a $50 penalty
for those who register after that - so it pays to be early. That cost is
for the TEAM, so it's about $70 each for a team of 4.

We can have any number of teams in each category (the more the merrier!)
EXCEPT for the premier division, where each club can only enter one
team. Let us know if you're keen on being in this team (you know who you
are!!!) and we'll organise it, or if you know 4 speedy people who are
keen get together and let us know!

Hopefully our brand new Bilbys tent will have arrived by then and we
will have somewhere to congregate. :)

We can't promise that we'll win the event, but we'll be the club with
the most spirit and that has the most fun!!!
