2007 Rogaine World Championships
================================

The 7th World Rogaining Championships are on this weekend in the 
Warumbungle mountains in Victoria with over 300 teams. Our own Julie Quinn 
and David Baldwin will be flying the Bilbys flag high. Dave is in the Open 
Male Division with Trevor Jacobs and Adrian Sheppard (Team # 227). Julie 
is in  2 woman female team in the Open division with Heather Logie. We 
wish them both well. Results will be able to be seen at  worlds website:

PB for PB
=========
Perry Blackmore just ran 2:35:15 at Melbourne marathon last weekend 
beating his PB set as a 17 year old by 1 minute! 

Congratulations also to all those Bilbys competing in the 24 hour MTB race 
last weekend. I have no hope of summarising the results here but if 
someone wants to try I'd only be too happy to put them in a later update.

Govt Corporate Tri Launch - you can be a part of it  - Wed 18/10
======================================================
Triathlon ACT is holding a big event launch for the Phillips Fox 
Government and Business Triathlon on Wednesday, 18 October at 12.45pm 
lakeside at Lake Burley Griffin.  Jon Stanhope will be officially 
launching this event and the plan is for a couple of short speeches by 
Anthony Willis from Phillips Fox and Simon Thompson (the media love him!) 
to both preceed and follow Mr Stanhope’s launch. 

TACT are also going to run a couple of fun novelty ‘races’ where 
participants can win a free entry into the PF Gov & Business Tri by being 
part of a push up/air cycle/run race.

TACT is asking for our support for the launch by attending and 
participating in the novelty races. The media will be in attendance and we 
would hope that some of our members may appear in the coverage of this 
launch.   

If you can make it, please RSVP to me garry.stevens at centrelink.gov.au so I 
can let them know how many they can expect. So far I have had nil response 
- surely there is at least one Bilby who would like to go along????

Open Day Belconnen Wests Tennis Club

One of our Wests Affiliates (Wests Rugby Club being one of our major cash 
sponsors) is putting on a Tennis Open day for anyone who doesn't mind a 
bit of hit and giggle - details below....

Triple Tri Team-mates wanted

Kylie Gaffel is looking for some team members for the upcoming Triple Tri 
- preferably in a team of 3 doing 2-4 legs each. She can be contacted on

finish within the cut-off times. Prefer swim/bike/run each but other 
options would be fine too.

New race in the air - Sydney Olympic Distance Race
============================================

It is with great pleasure that t3 Events announce a coup for all 
Australian Triathletes.  After months of behind the scenes work with 
Sutherland Shire Council, New South Wales Police, Triathlon Australia, 
Triathlon NSW and our event partners Cronulla Surf Lifesaving Club we are 
very proud to announce that 18 March 2007 athletes will enjoy the 
inaugural Cronulla Olympic Distance Triathlon.

Set in the pristine waters of Wanda Beach this event promises to be a 
landmark event for all triathletes.  With an ocean swim, a fast time trial 
bike course and an undulating run which will wind through the spectators 
in Lucas Reserve, this race has something for everyone.  More importantly 
the Sydney CBD finally has an Olympic Distance Triathlon to call it's own.

The event website and entries will go live on Monday 6 November 2006 and 
please note that the field will be capped (maximum numbers are to be 
confirmed)so please keep checking back or join up on the t3 Events mailing 
list at www.t3events.com.au to ensure you are first with the information.
