Member News
=============
Baby News - Rochelle (Rocky) Morrison and Jonathon (Jono) Adams had a baby
girl on Saturday morning 4th Nov. Elsie Lauren Adams 3.3kg. It was a
smooth 6 hr labour - and Rocky reports that it was an amazing experience.
Congrats and the Bilbys welcome Elsie to the world as yet another baby
Bilby (a joey or joette in this instance).
There was a big envelope in the Baldwin/ Quinn letterbox last night from
ACTSPORT. Julie Quinn (a current committee member) won the ACT Open Female
Sportstar for October. Julie Quinn was a member of the winning team in the
open women’s division at the 7th World Rogaining Championships help in the
Warrumbungles National Park in NSW on Oct 10-11, with a score of 2010
points for 12th outright of 300 teams, beating 2nd women’s team by 420
points. This is Julie’s 3rd consecutive world title, and caps off a
fantastic year which also included being a member of the outright winning
team at each of the Australian Championships (May - only 2nd woman in 27
year history of event), NSW Championships (April) and Victorian
Championships (September).
Rogaining is the sport of long distance cross-country navigation. The
championship Rogaine is of twenty four hours duration. Teamwork,
endurance, competition, and an appreciation of the natural environment are
features of the sport. Huge congratulations to this legend in the sport.
Nowra Tri - good luck to all those competing in the first race in the
Olympic Distance National Series in Nowra this weekend, particularly those
from last years novice program who are competing in their first Olympic
Distance race. Nowra is the first in the qualifiers for the world
Championships to be held in Hamburg, Germany in August 2007. . We'd love
to hear some race reports.
Not sure if we had any Bilbys race at Port Macquarie last weekend in the
70.3 event. If so we'd love to hear from you.
Aid Station reminder - we still need lots more people.
=============================================
One week to go to the World Longcourse triathlon Championships. We're
still very short on numbers for the aid station so if you can give your
time for 2 hours anytime on Sunday 19th November, please let Christina
know at social at bilbys.org ASAP.
Information Session - next Thursday 16th Nov
======================================
Next weeks information session sees Craig Wisdom talking about Physio and
Injury Prevention I. This is the first of two talks by Craig Wisdom of
Kingston Physiotherapy, another valued sponsor and long-time Bilby. Craig
will go over possible swimming injuries and start on cycling problems that
commonly occur this evening. Not to be missed or you’ll end up in his
practice! We also have Trevor Jacobs who will also be a guest speaker on
this evening. Trevor is a very well known runner in Canberra and further
afield. If you want some inspiration to keep running as you get older
come and hear about some of Trevor’s exploits. In August he travelled to
Colorado and won his age group at the World Mountain Running Champs.
Trevor is also very entertaining to listen to! The sessions are held at
the AIS from 7.45pm-9.00pm.There will be people there to show you the way
in. Enter from Leverrier Crescent and the rooms are near the basketball
centre near the soccer statue.

Triple Tri Team Members wanted
=============================
From Kylie Mulligan (kylie.mulligan at gmail.com) - Our triple tri team is
short a few members. We're putting in a mixed team of 7-9 and we need
people to do the first two rides and the last run. Doubling up is ok if
you want to challenge yourself. We're not planning on going hard as a
team, although personal goals are encouraged - whether it's just to finish
or to come in under world record time. So far we've only got one boy on
the team, so more would be good.
People can contact me at this email address
The first mountain bike leg is 35k
The second mountain bike leg is 40k and
The final run is 13k
You can find the course information at

Cheers, Kylie
A message from Sarah Pollock (nee Roper) - former committee member
========================================
Hi everyone!!
The Pollocks are coming to town for one night only! Special performance,
so come on down!! :)
We're coming back for a couple of weeks to see the family, and will be
dropping in on Canberra while we're there. Unfortunately we're not
staying for long in Canberra, so we'd love for everyone to come catch up
with us while we're in town. We arrive on Tuesday, December 5th at 9pm,
and will be in Canberra all day Wednesday, and most of Thursday, then
heading off late Thursday. So we're planning on going to Debacle, on
Lonsdale St on the Wednesday night, will get there at 5pm or so, and plan
to stay all there all evening.
So drop in for a quick hi, or stay for the entire evening - either way
we'd love to see you! We're pretty flexible with the plans while we're
there, so can probably squeeze in catch up breakfast/lunch or whatever
else while there if anyone's not working.

New Adventure Series
===================
AROC Sport is running a new series of CORPORATE Adventure Races, in
addition to our regular social races, and our first event is going to be
part of the Brindabella Challenge Cycling Festival, on the afternoon of
Wed the 6th Dec. This particular event is run as a charity event,
promoting Clean Up Australia.
AROC's corporate events are a bit shorter than the regular sprint series
(only one to two hours) and the navigation is a lot easier too so they're
excellent for anyone giving adventure racing a go for the very first time
or working on improving their fitness a bit more (i.e. employees can be
reasonably unfit and still get heaps out of it). They are designed for
employers to enrol their employees. Entry fee is $100 per person and if a
workplace can organise 3 teams to participate, they will receive about
$400 worth of instruction and training including a navigation course and
paddling session. The vision behind these particular Corporate Events is
to promote exercise and fitness in the workplace through a fun, exciting,
adventure-filled afternoon, leading ultimately to improved motivation and
work performance. This event is an enjoyable way to promote perseverance
and develop self-confidence and problem solving at a fast pace where
communication and team support play a vital role.

gear at a reduced rate. Wests also provide the club with free room hire
for events such as the annual trivia night, information sessions,
committee meetings and novice dinners.
As part of the Bilbys membership arrangement club members also receive
