Our best wishes are with Glenn Carter and Steve Hanley who had a bit of
an accident during Wednesday's bunch ride on Mugga Way and had to be
taken to hospital in an ambulance. Both Glenn and Steve are in good
spirits despite their injuries and would like to say thank you to
everyone who helped on Wednesday morning. Glenn has reportedly
dislocated his AC joint and Steve fractured his collar bone and received
three stiches to his right eye brow. But most importantly, other than a
few scratches and a buckled wheel the bikes faired ok!
Ironman Australia is on this weekend and judging by the competitor's
list we'll have some pretty solid Bilbys results to report on next week!
Good luck to the following Bilbys racing on Sunday:
Paddy Pallin 6hr rogaine
And good luck to Julie Quinn, David Baldwin and Mark Raymond who are
participating in the Paddy Pallin 6hr rogaine this weekend.

Relay for life update
Last weekend a team of 15 Bilbys took part in the Relay for life - an
event where participants raise money for cancer research and support by
doing a relay on the AIS track for 24 hours.
It was a great event and the team raised well over a thousand dollars.
The Bilbys tent proved valuable especially for those that stayed
overnight in very cold conditions!
Everyone who participated had a lot of fun, and some pushed themselves
to run further than they had before in a 24 hour period. Special
mentions go to Iain Cox who was the only Bilby to stay at the track for
the full 24 hours, and Graham Monfries who managed to crack 100 laps
over the 24 hour period.

Message from Vikings CC and Canberra CC: The DEF Cyclists email list
We want MORE people to come along to road races. Races are fun, social,
and a great way to keep fit. However, often the lower grades are lacking
If you're new to cycling and want to get into racing, this is your
chance to try out road races with a group of friendly, similar-paced
people, offering support and encouragement.
If you're an old hat and are sick of turning up and racing with small or
even non-existent bunches, this is your chance to help get decent-sized
bunches coming to every race, and to encourage new people to get
This email list will be used to encourage D, E and F grade cyclists to

Cocktail party - 10 May 2008
It's time to ditch the lycra, dust off those dancing shoes and get ready
for the Bilbys end-of season cocktail party!
It's been a long season - from Oz team champs to Ironman Australia - but
it's all over (almost) and I think at least every triathlete deserves at
least one hangover for their season's efforts :-)
When: Saturday 10 May
Where: North Bar, 46 Northbourne Ave, Civic
Time: 6pm to 10pm
Cost: $45 per person (includes drinks and light food)
Partners, friends, family all welcome. Sorry, no under 18's.
RSVP and payment by Tuesday 22 April to Jane or Megan social at bilbys.org
NB. The function is a closed event at North Bar until 10pm, after which
time the bar will be reopened to the public.
MTB clinic tomorrow, Saturday 5 April at Stromlo
Just a reminder about the mountain bike skills clinic tomorrow at Mt
Stromlo starting at 10am from the event centre carpark.
There will be different level groups - from simply helping confidence in
riding on the Stromlo terrain to working on speed and flow on the more
advanced trail features (berm descent lines and speed), cornering lines,
and maybe some rock gardens.
There will be two instructors per group with around six to eight people
per group. And the session will run for around 2.5 hours.
If you'd like to attend email steve.hanley at bilbys.org so they can get an
idea of numbers. The session is free for Bilbys members and non-members
can sign up on the day.
