Noosa Multisport Triathlon Festival
Classed as the largest triathlon in the Southern Hemisphere, and possibly
the hardest to get an entry into (given it's popularity), the 2011 Noosa
Olympic Distance Triathlon was run and won on Sunday 30 October. In what
were spectacular (and hot) conditions, approximately 7,500 competitors
(individuals and teams), including Sam Rampant from Bilby's, participated in
this popular event. Sam completed the course in a time of 2:56:28. I did
spot another Bilby's t-shirt walking around, let us know how you went!!

UPCOMING RACES AND OTHER EVENTS
CAPITAL SUMMER -NOVEMBER FESTIVAL & CORPORATE TRIATHLON
5-6 November, Canberra ACT
The November Fest is the first of the Capital Summer Series and incorporates
the Government and Business Triathlon 2011. The swim for all November Fest
triathlons will be in a pool making it super friendly for all the first
timers. The Festival also include the first race of the novice series and a
fast, flat Long Course which will be the perfect season opener for the
experienced triathlete.

Update on the Run Course for competitors in Sunday's Capital Summer event
Due to some improvements in the amount of construction fencing around the
Anzac Park West building, the Run Course for Sunday's four triathlons has
been slightly altered to make it less complex. Note this includes the TACT
triathlons and the Corporate Triathlons.
The change means we will use the road closure on Anzac Parade to better
effect, and utilise a straight run along the Constitution Avenue footpath.
Please appraise yourself of the new Run Course on the website by [clicking
here]

Information Board near the Registration tent at Sunday's event.
In other good news, the weather prediction is for a brilliant sunny Sunday
morning, low winds and a range of 11 to 32 degrees. With a guaranteed pool
temperature of at least 27 degrees, it makes for an excellent day to open
the local tri season. If you have not got your entries in yet, it's not too
late but click here

Since its inception in 2005 the Ben Donohoe Run and Walk for Fun has raised
over $220,000 for the ACT Eden Monaro Cancer Support Group, Make-A-Wish
AustraliaR and Brain Tumour Australia (BTA), which has helped our local
community by supporting families affected by cancer and bringing hope and
joy to the lives of seriously ill children.
Now in its seventh year, the Ben Donohoe Run and Walk for Fun is one of the
premier events on the ACT sporting calendar and one of the largest fun runs
in the region.
We can only continue to "Make A Difference" with the generous support of our

Tour de Femme
13 November
The Tour de Femme is a women's-only twenty kilometer ride that doubles as
both a race and a participation event. In 2011 it will be held on Sunday
13th November. Many of Australia's top female riders have competed in
previous events and are expected to return this year. There are a range of
age divisions with separate prizes that are hotly contested each year.
In addition to those interested in racing, the Tour de Femme attracts a
large number of participants who treat it as a 'fun-run' on wheels. More
than 600 riders competed in 2009. Everyone who enters by the closing date
will receive a T-shirt and a water bottle. It is not necessary to have a
club or open racing license to enter. Riders from teens to those in their
eighties participate.
Race starts at 9am on Sunday 13th November and registration is from 4pm to
6pm on Saturday 12th November at Stromlo Forest Park.
Entries are restricted to riders twelve years and over. You can enter online

Bilby's Annual Training Camp - Jindabyne NSW - 8-15 January 2012
It's back again!!
The Bilbys Triathlon Club has spent a week at NSW Snowy Mountains during
January for the past 10+ years. Those involved all had the chance to
experience the life of a full-time triathlete and enjoy the many activities
that the snowy mountains area has to offer.
Such a success is this training camp that it is back by popular demand.
Training can involve two (or more) sessions daily including Swimming,
Cycling, Running and stretching/conditioning. The camp is suitable for all
levels of triathletes, and is fun for all ages.
The camp runs from January 8-15 2012 (check in Sunday 8th, check out Sunday

Bike for sale
An entry level men's road bike (I'm female) ideal for someone looking for a
cheap entry level bike or upgrade from a mountain bike. This 50 inch,
triple chain wheel, road bike is as per original specifications (primarily
Shimano Tiagra) except for an upgrade with a Shimano 105 rear derailleur.
To give you an idea of the size, I am 178cm tall (female) but it was a
little bit too small for me (even though I stuck with it for years!).
Also included are pedals (your choice of cage pedals or Shimano SPD-R), the
original, shorter stem (handy if you want to fit tri-
bars, the original Tiagra rear derailleur, the cassette guard off the rear
wheel, a Blackburn 'Air Stik' high pressure pump, a
Cateye bike computer (needs a new battery soon) and the original manual. T
he drive train (chain and cassette) is relatively
new as I haven't ridden it a great deal since both were replaced.
The bike is 10 years old, but except for the size issue, it served me well,
and I've used it for triathlons and many road rides.
All yours, including the extras, for $350. Feel free to email me for more
information or photos at chrisepalmer at gmail.com
